When I was seventeen I learnt how to let a boy
inside me, the trick is to relax -
if you are scared it hurts more
and you shake.
I use this for every injection:
blood tests, piercings. The body
doesn’t recoil if you tell it “It’s okay.”
If you want to love me I’ll tell my blood
to hush, I’ll let you in
with no pain
and you can swim inside my veins.
